Reservoir characterization
combining geostatistics, geology, seismic data:
A 2 day short course

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers involved in integrated reservoir studies or in quantitative geological interpretation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

General information
The need for integration of geology, geophysics, dynamic data and geostatistics
Background on sequence stratigraphy for reservoirs
Geostatistical tools required for quantitative analysis
Case studies of combined geostatistical and geological analysis
Simulation of reservoir architecture - methods and examples
Geostatistics to integrate seismic information when modeling reservoirs (from geological interpretation of seismics, or from quantitative information extracted from seismics)
Geostatistical simulation of petrophysical parameters according to geology

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

How to conduct an integrated reservoir study
Combining sequence stratigraphy analysis and quantitative tools for geological interpretation
How to best take into account geology, geostatistics, seismics and dynamic data for reservoir modeling using stochastic methods

About the Instructors

Alain Galli

Alain Galli has a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the university of Grenoble. He joined the Centre de Geostatistique in 1979 where he has been in charge of the Petroleum Group since 1983. Since 79 he has been working on most of the topics of petroleum geostatistics.

Christian Ravenne

Christian Ravenne has HDR, he has been project manager at Institut Français du Petrole for reservoir characterization from 1985 to 1996 then for pilot integrated reservoir studies from 1997 to 1998. He has specialized in seismic stratigraphy and interpretation of sequence stratigraphy. He has a master in Geophysics (Sorbonne University) and he studied geology and geophysics in Paris at the Ecole Nationale Superieure du Petrole et des Moteurs. He has been associate research director from 1998 to 2008.

The instructors have extensive consulting and technical expertise for oil companies, research companies and have given many inhouse and public courses.
